Sardines are a nutrient-dense fish that offer a plethora of health benefits. Firstly, they are an excellent source of high-quality protein, which is essential for building and repairing tissues, supporting muscle growth, and maintaining a healthy immune system. Sardines are rich in heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). These fatty acids help reduce inflammation, lower the risk of heart disease, and support brain health by promoting cognitive function and reducing the risk of neurodegenerative disorders. Additionally, sardines are a significant source of vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus, crucial for bone health, aiding in bone strength and density. The presence of essential minerals like selenium and iron further contributes to immune function and the production of red blood cells.
